IMPORTANT:  Hi all!  I wanted to inform everyone that Mary and I are continuing to gain tremendous support for our channel.  Please don't let this number discourage you from signing because we need everyone's help to prove that we, the fans... the demand, is out here and we would like to hear more of our favorite genre of music.  We are looking at approximately needing 100,000 to 300,000 signatures/supporters.  Just because our online petition is showing over 1,900 supporters to date, there are 30,000 additiional fans out here on these boards that have yet to sign.  That number does not begin to touch who all we are trying to notify.  The 100,000-300,000 fan support is out here if everyone pulls together and makes the stand to link and sign.  Please feel free to copy/paste this to any and all boards that you feel would be interested.  I just ask the small favor of emailing me the link to the board in which you decide to post.  That way I can track our responses and have their group link added to my contacts.  I would like to be able to keep as many people up to date on our progress as possible.  Please do not let skeptism rule your decision from signing.  By doing so, you will be turning your back on some of your favorite musicians who have already given their support by signing and are now doing public interviews.    If you miss the good old days of staying up till 3am and watching Classic Headbanger's Ball and if you love watching VH1's current Metal Mania; then this is your opportunity to make a difference.  If everyone will do their part and sign their support, Mary and I will handle the Networks.  I thank EVERYONE who has helped us out thus far.

Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Artists and Fans unite to battle VH1/MTV Networks for Channel

This petition is to show an overwhelming interest in the creation of an exclusive heavy metal music video channel. Our goal is to achieve an outlet where our metal artists no longer have to fight the industry to get their music heard.  Our present metal artists are making videos; however we feel that one day per week is not sufficient airtime for these musicians.  Our older musicians are still producing music but not music videos and because of that, their music is never heard.  I understand that Record Labels front the artists the revenue for music video production.  The artists must then pay back as much as 50% of these expenses.  With the demise of video airplay back in the early 90s, many of our rising bands suffered.  I am certain that it became unprofitable for our talented artists to keep making music videos for their fans. We would like to maintain an outlet that would alleviate some of these struggles for our past and present artists.  One artist quoted, "There is no reason to make a video because MTV will not play it" (Don Dokken). If it were not for the demise of video airplay, our past metal artists would still be producing music videos to this day.  The metal community has finally come together to make a stand.  We are tired of the industry trying to force feed us a specific genre of music and making our decisions for us.  Do you deem our past and present artists to be non-profitable?  Are you concerned that this proposed channel will not be able to keep your rating standards?  Do you believe that our age group cannot afford to pay extra for our own channel in order for you to make a profit?  Do you believe there are not enough Heavy Metal Music Videos to keep a 24 hour metal channel in the works?  Our campaign will prove that these conclusions are false.  (All supported documentation and statistical data is located on the second page.)

Mary and I started this endeavor a little over (3) months ago in hopes to win a channel, A Vh1 Metal Mania Channel with no “nu-metal” to be played.  Our goal has been to achieve and maintain an outlet where many of our past artists will have the opportunity once again to have not only their older music heard, but much of their newer music that has been produced over the years.  Since the demise of video airplay back in the early 90s, many of our artists suffered greatly because of this.  As it is today, they must fight the industry every step of the way just to get their music out to be heard.  This proposed channel would alleviate some of the struggles that our artists must face and it would alleviate the deprivation that the fans have suffered for over a decade.

I personally blame MTV for the 90’s video crash and the fall out of the music industry. Many bands relied on this airplay and when that was stripped from them, bands could not survive. Hostility and frustrations began to soar which led to the separation of many a band. I must admit that I do have hidden hopes. I hope that an all metal channel will be the rebirth of metal music. I hope that this will encourage artists to remember the success that they once had, be able to put their personal differences aside, and give their original bands and their musical careers another shot. After all, life is too short and precious for such animosity. They had the success once before, and they can have it again.

We metal fans must come and stick together to support these artists. We have over 30 years of metal history and it’s time our favorite groups get the air time and recognition that they deserve for their past and present music.  Without their fans, they have nothing. But with our help and support, we could hopefully help make their dreams come true again.
